Snakes and Ladders
Free online Snakes and Ladders
Free Snakes and Ladders in your browser, with nothing to download: roll the die, move along the 100 squares, climb the ladders, watch out for the snakes and be the first to reach 100. Two to four players: you against the computer or everyone on the same device.
The board is our own: 8 ladders and 9 snakes. A 6 lets you roll again, and reaching 100 takes the exact count: if you go past it, you bounce back.
It’s a musical game: every square you move plays its note, the ladders are golden music staves that play a scale as you climb, and the snakes, with piano-key scales, slide down in a glissando. The pieces are a violin, a trumpet, a drum and a harp. It’s one of the 51 games in the Arcadópolis Games folder.

What it has
- 100 squares in a zigzag, 8 ladders and 9 snakes.
- Two to four players: against the computer or together on the same device.
- Every square plays its note of the major scale; ladders climb playing a scale and snakes slide down in a glissando.
- A 6 rolls again and 100 takes the exact count (go past it and you bounce back).
- A fast mode so you don’t wait for the computer.
- An unfinished game is saved; six achievements and records in your profile (ladders climbed and snakes).
How to play
- Open the Games folder, tap Snakes and Ladders and choose the mode and how many players.
- Roll the die with the button or Space: your piece moves on its own, square by square.
- If you end at the foot of a ladder, you climb; if you end on a snake’s head, you slide down to its tail.
- The first to reach square 100 with the exact count wins.
Where the ladders and snakes are
The ladders go from 3 to 22, 8 to 30, 20 to 41, 27 to 56 (the longest), 39 to 60, 50 to 69, 63 to 81 and 72 to 93. The snakes slide from 17 to 7, 34 to 12, 46 to 25, 54 to 33, 66 to 45, 76 to 58, 89 to 68, 97 to 78 and 99 to 80, the last trap before the finish.
A game of luck, for all ages
There are no decisions to make: everything depends on the die, so a child can beat anyone and every game is different. That makes it a good first board game for learning to count and to wait your turn. A game takes about ten minutes with two players, and much less in fast mode.
Common questions
Can I play against the computer?
Yes, against 1, 2 or 3 rivals that roll on their own. Since it’s a game of pure luck, there are no levels: anyone can win.
What happens if I go past square 100?
You bounce back: you move up to 100 and back the extra squares. If you land on a snake on the way back, you slide down too.
Does it work on phones?
Yes: the whole board fits across the screen and you roll the die with a tap. It works in the browser, with nothing to install.
