Parchís

Free online Parchís board game for 2 to 4 players

Free Parchís in your browser, with nothing to download: roll the die, bring your pieces out with a 5, take them around the board and up your home column to the center before everyone else. Two to four players: you against the computer, on Easy, Normal or Hard, or everyone on the same device, taking turns.

It uses the classic Spanish rules: a 6 rolls again (and counts 7 once you have no pieces at home), capturing a piece lets you count 20 and reaching the center counts 10; there are 12 safe squares, two-piece blockades no one can pass, and the center takes an exact count.

The board is lacquered wood, the pieces are four jewels (ruby, sapphire, jade and amber), and every square you move plays a note. It’s one of the 51 games in the Arcadópolis Games folder.

Free, no ads, nothing to install.

What it has

  • Two to four players, with the color you like.
  • Against the computer on three levels; on Hard it avoids leaving its pieces where they can be captured.
  • Together on the same device, each player in turn.
  • The full Spanish rules: out with a 5, the 6 and the 7, three sixes, capturing and counting 20, the center and counting 10, blockades and safe squares.
  • Fast mode: the computer plays without making you wait and, when only one piece can move, it moves on its own.
  • An unfinished game is saved; six achievements and records in your profile.

How to play

  1. Open the Games folder, tap Parchís and choose the mode, how many players and your color.
  2. Roll the die with the button or Space. A 5 brings a piece out to your starting square.
  3. Choose which piece to move by tapping it on the board (or with its number). Pieces move counterclockwise.
  4. After going around, go up your home column to the center with an exact count. The first to get all four pieces there wins.

The rules, one by one

Capturing: if you land on a square with a piece of another color, you send it home and count 20 with any of your pieces; there are no captures on safe squares, the ones with a circle and the starting squares. Blockades: two pieces of the same color on one square block everyone; if you roll a 6 and have a blockade, you must open it. Three sixes: if you roll three sixes in a row, the last piece you moved goes back home, unless it’s already in its home column.

Tips to win

Bring pieces out early, but don’t leave them alone just ahead of a rival piece: within seven squares they can be captured. Safe squares are good places to wait. A blockade in the others’ path slows them down, but a 6 forces you to open it. When you can capture, it’s almost always worth it: besides sending a rival piece home, the 20-square bonus can get one of yours into its home column.

Common questions

Can I play against the computer?

Yes, against 1, 2 or 3 rivals and on three levels. On Easy it moves almost at random; on Normal it captures when it can and looks for safe squares; and on Hard it also makes sure its pieces aren’t easy to capture.

Can several people play together?

Yes, 2 to 4 on the same device: each player rolls and moves on their turn, and the panel shows whose turn it is and how many pieces each player has at home and in the center.

What happens with a 6?

A 6 lets you roll again. If you have no pieces left at home, the 6 counts 7. And if you roll three sixes in a row, the last piece you moved goes back home.
