Mahjong Solitaire
Free online mahjong solitaire
Free mahjong solitaire in your browser, with nothing to download: remove matching free tiles in pairs until the table is empty. A tile is free if nothing is on top of it and its left or right side is open.
There are three layouts: Courtyard (72 tiles), Pyramid (144, stepped, with its temple on top) and Tower (144, seven levels). Every deal can be solved, and if you get stuck, Shuffle mixes the remaining tiles and keeps it solvable. There’s also a daily deal, the same for everyone, with streaks.
The tiles are our own, ivory with rosewood edges on green felt, with instruments and musical signs instead of the usual pictures. Each pair plays its note and, if you remove pairs in a row, the melody climbs. It’s one of the 51 games in the Arcadópolis Games folder.

What it has
- Three layouts: Courtyard, Pyramid and Tower.
- Every deal can be solved; Shuffle keeps it that way.
- The daily deal, the same for everyone, with streaks.
- Hints, undo and show free tiles.
- A clock and keyboard play.
- Six achievements and records per layout in your profile.
How to play
- Open the Games folder, tap Mahjong Solitaire and choose a layout or the daily deal.
- Tap a free tile and then a matching one that’s also free: both disappear.
- Start with the tiles on top and the ones that uncover others.
- You win when no tiles are left on the table.
The 144 tiles
There are three suits from 1 to 9, Strings, Drums and Notes, with four tiles of each number (108 in all). There are also four Winds (flute, trumpet, saxophone and clarinet) and three Dynamics (p, mf and ff), four of each, plus eight special tiles: four Seasons and four Moons. Any season matches any season, and any moon matches any moon.
Strings play pizzicato, drums play their beat and notes play their scale.
Strategy
Before removing a pair, check which tiles it uncovers: it pays to free the ones with lots of tiles on top and the ones blocking others from the sides. If three or four matching tiles are free, think about which two to remove, because the one you leave may be covering another you need. Show free saves you time searching, and Hint suggests a pair that doesn’t break the solution.
Common questions
Can every game be won?
Yes. Each deal is built backwards, removing free pairs from the full layout, so there’s always a way to clear the table. If you get stuck, Shuffle mixes what’s left without losing the solution.
What is a free tile?
One with no tile on top and with its left or right side open. With “Show free,” the ones you can’t remove yet are dimmed.
Which layout is easiest?
Courtyard, with 72 tiles, is the shortest. Pyramid and Tower have 144; the Tower, with seven levels, hides the most.
