Trivia

Trivia: free online general knowledge quiz

Trivia is a free general knowledge quiz game that runs in your browser, with nothing to download. Each game is ten questions with four options and twenty seconds to answer each one; the faster you get them right and the longer your streak, the more points you score.

The bank has 210 questions in Spanish and English, spread over ten categories: History, Math, Science, Nature, Art & literature, Music, Mythology, Sports & games, Inventions & technology, and Mexico. You can play the daily challenge, the same for everyone, a quick game, a single category or, on arcadopolis.com, Live trivia against other people.

It’s one of the 51 games in the Arcadópolis Games folder.

What it has

  • Ten categories with at least 20 questions each, on three difficulty levels.
  • Daily challenge: the same ten questions for everyone, one per category, with a streak of days in a row.
  • Random quick games or a single category; the game tries not to repeat questions from your last games.
  • After each answer, a short fact about the right one.
  • At the end, a review of every question with what you picked and the right answer.
  • Live trivia: ten questions at the same time against up to seven people.

How to play

  1. Open the Games folder and tap Trivia.
  2. Choose the daily challenge, a quick game or a category.
  3. Read the question and tap your answer before the time bar runs out, or use keys A to D (or 1 to 4).
  4. Read the fact, move on with “Next” and, at the end, check your points and every answer.

How points work

A right answer is worth 100 points, plus up to 100 for speed depending on the time left, plus 10 for each right answer in a row you already had, up to 50. A wrong answer or running out of time costs nothing, but it breaks your streak. Every game brings four easy, four medium and two hard questions, and your best game in each mode and category goes into your records.

The daily challenge

Everyone gets the same ten questions, one from each category, and the challenge counts toward your streak the first time you play it that day; after that you can replay it, but it no longer counts. At the end you can share your result as a row of green and red squares with a link: whoever opens it plays the same challenge. If someone sends you one from another day, you can play it too; it just doesn’t add to your streak.

Common questions

Can I play against other people?

Yes, in Live trivia on arcadopolis.com, with a free account: up to eight people get the same questions at the same time and score points for being right and being fast. You can pick a category or any of them, and players can only send each other preset phrases and emojis, with no open chat.

How many questions are there?

210, each in Spanish and English: 80 easy, 84 medium and 46 hard. Every category has at least 20; Art & literature has 28 and Mexico, 22. They’re stable facts, with no records or current officeholders that change over time.

Can I play on my phone or with the keyboard?

Yes. On a phone you tap the answer; on a computer you use keys A to D or 1 to 4, and Enter to continue. If you minimize the window or switch tabs, the clock stops and picks up where it left off when you return.
